    What you’ll do:

    This position has overall responsibility to provide leadership and direction for quality lab personnel and activities associated with production processes through manufacturing and packaging operations.  Oversight into ensuring quality conformance of all materials including raw materials, bulk products and finished goods.  Manages sample program, provides technical product information (i.e. Certificate of Analysis, Specifications, etc.) to other departments as needed. 

    • Responsible at all times for promoting a safety culture and safety awareness within their area of responsibility.  Support and enforce all plant safety policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.  Responsible for all job-related safety training for their work team.
    • Direct the Quality Department activities to plan and establish work schedules, overtime coverage, assignments and production sequences in support of production schedule attainment and plant trials.
    • Oversee QA Technicians in verification of safe performance of all lab testing, instrumentation calibration and verification of test data.
    • Perform formal quality document review and approval, including semi and finished goods Batch Record review.
    • Initiates investigations, corrective and preventative actions where needed for all supplier non-conformance, OOS product (Out of Specification), consumer complaints and plant-related quality issues.
    • Participation in all internal and external quality audits as needed, including management of all subsequent action item lists, driving findings to completion in a timely manner.
    • Develop, maintain and communicate all applicable quality SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) for both the Quality Department and Operations personnel as needed.
    • Practice “good lab practices” for the safe handling and storage of all chemicals, proper test methods and good documentation practices.
    • Maintain a competent staff through training, development, motivation and performance management. Maintain compliance with all training requirements for department personnel, including safety, quality, customer service, lab core competencies and the overall business operations as required. Assist Quality Manager with creation and administration of all annual CSD’s (Critical Success Drivers – goals and objectives) and performance feedback sessions.
    • Accountable for accurate and timely recording of employee attendance, E-time and payroll records.
    • Coordinate all PTR’s (Plant Trial Requests) for all new products, development and/or changes.  Ensure new products meet product release requirements.
    • Incorporate principles of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement in areas such as efficiency, costs and services performed.
    • Analytical data trending to improve processes and troubleshoot issues.
    • Promote fair and consistent adherence to all Company and Plant policies and procedures.
    • Foster and maintain good employee relations through all the appropriate methods of communications and positive employee relations practices.  Initiate necessary employee relations functions as needed such as coaching, corrective actions, etc.
    • Manage all related technical systems, technologies, machines, and equipment as required.
    • Participation in employee process from the hiring and interviewing stage through termination.
    • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.





    What you’ll need:

    • Excellent organizational/time management skills. 
    • Knowledge of Plant Quality Systems related to SOP’s, control plans, work instructions, project management and quality laboratory management.
    • Competence in Total Quality Systems (ISO-9000), CGMP and regulatory requirements (21 CFR 110, 111 and 210/211).
    • Strong project management skills, ability to prioritize work assignments in a fast-paced work environment.
    • Solid critical thinking skills and ability to create new, innovative ways to address quality issues.
    • Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite, MS Project, SAP and Agile).
    • Knowledge of computerized applications of SPC (Statistical Process Control).
    • Ability to interpret and analyze technical data and make appropriate recommendations as needed.
    • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality at all times and in all situations.



    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Quality, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Management/Industrial Engineering or related field preferred.
    • 3-5 years previous quality supervisory experience in a fast-paced regulated manufacturing environment preferred.  Experience in CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) a plus.
