    Role Summary                                                          


    Manage technology development using the Microbial Terror platform for the animal productivity product lines within the poultry business.  This requires managing the product development scientist team in the laboratory and also effectively communicating across all other functions and directly with customers as needed. 







    Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities  


    • Lead all technology development using the Microbial Terroir platform in the Wisconsin laboratories to support the poultry area.
    • The position will have 2 to 4 direct reports who will all be supporting the assigned species product development using the Microbial Terroir platform.
    • Work closely with research collaborators as well as sales and field technical service personnel to prioritize efforts that will maximize sales growth
    • Manage the technical scientists, laboratory activities and staffing needs to insure that business needs are being met in a cost effective and efficient manner.
    • Process samples in the laboratory as needed.
    • Curate the bacterial library and sample database
    • Review data and analytical results, prepare reports for internal use and external use with customers.
    • Communicate results to the sales team and as needed directly with the customers either remotely or at the customer location.
    • Assist in patent preparation and drafting for products and processes relevant for the business
    • Maintain active competitive intelligence of competitor products and benchmarking analysis to the existing portfolio
    • Participate in interspecies coordination of biodiversity discovery pipeline
    • Travel up to 25% of the time.
    • Adhere to and follow established procedures and policies for working in the laboratory designated for the development of regulated products. Assist in maintaining laboratory compliance and development of SOP including equipment maintenance.

    Education and Experience                                                          


    • BS in Microbiology, Biology or related field from an accredited institution required. MS degree is preferred.
    • 3+ years of related experience in research or product development.

    Skills and Competencies


    • Strong scientific knowledge and hands on laboratory skills needed.
    • Must have the ability to study, identify, understand, prioritize, plan and clearly articulate market and customer requirements.
    • Computer literate and knowledgeable of MS Office.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including presentation skills.
    • Self-motivated and takes ownership of assigned projects.
    • Works well independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to manage large workloads at times and to adapt to reprioritization as necessary in a rapidly changing environment.
    • Ability to work on multiple, concurrent projects without manager oversight.
    • Demonstrated organizational, work planning, and problem-solving skills.
