    We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Chemist at our Vancouver, WA plant.


    What you'll do:


    This position will assist and perform specialized and routine laboratory examinations, procedures and other related laboratory functions under general supervision.


    • Perform routine testing of samples for HPLC, GC, LCMS or ICPMS in a timely, accurate manner. Work with the lab supervisor to determine priority of samples, including:
      • Solution preparation
      • Sample extraction
      • Instrument setup
      • Data processing
      • Result entry into LIMS
    • Instrument troubleshooting and routine instrument maintenance.
    • Perform secondary review of data.
    • Prepare reports and summarize large amounts of data using Excel, instrument software and LIMS.
    • Use Good Laboratory Practices and Good Documentation Practices in all laboratory activities.
    • Properly handle and dispose of laboratory hazardous waste.
    • Monitor gas cylinders.
    • Shared responsibility for inventory and restocking of supplies for general laboratory needs.
    • Responsible for inventory and restocking of columns, calibration standards, routine maintenance parts and accessories, and sample prep materials.
    • Log chemicals and standard into Chemical Tracker.
    • Seek opportunities to reduce routine laboratory costs by increased efficiency (higher throughput, decreased cost of supplies).
    • Execute projects as assigned to meet changing laboratory needs and requirements.
    • Shared responsibility for general laboratory organization and cleanliness.
    • Communication of relevant work details to Lab Supervisor and coworkers.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or closely related discipline and at least one year of experience using an HPLC, GC, LCMS or ICPMS system. A preference will be towards candidates that have experience quantifying vitamin and nutrient content in food is highly desirable.


    The candidate’s experience should include the following areas:

    • Good knowledge of laboratory terminology, equipment, materials, and the techniques/procedures commonly used in the analysis of food and related products.
    • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
